CHRISTOPHER'S HEAD CHEF - CHRIS GILLARD
Chris Gillard was born and raised in the Logy Bay/St. John's region. After completing high school at Prince of Wales Collegiate in St. John's, he successfully completed a three-year culinary program at Cabot College that provided the essential skills that he needed to pursue his dream career.
Chef Gillard has been pleasing the palettes of clients for more than 16 years throughout North America - from Cancun, Mexico to Barbados to Jasper, Alberta and Toronto, Ontario. Gillard is excited to present his experiences and accomplishments back in St. John's through his restaurant - Christopher's.
Gillard's influences are primarily French Traditional and North American style comfort food, but don't be surprised to discover a hint of Mexican, Spanish or Mediterranean cuisine. As a skilled Saucier, Gillard has developed innovative ways to compliment soups and seafood, but his true passion is steak. Top quality cuts are prepared to perfection and highlighted with a variety of sauces to bring out the flavor in your selection.
Gillard's accomplishments are impressive. He catered to musicians at the Canadian Juno Awards and served numerous stars on movie sets. Gillard was a private chef on an exclusive yacht and he has been recruited to prepare meals for local business executives at private lodges on the Gander River. Chef Gillard also represented Newfoundland & Labrador as mentor and coach on the television program "Canada's Next Great Chef."
Christopher's can accommodate in-house or private functions and offsite catered events for larger groups such as weddings, stags and conferences. If desired, buffet options for breakfast, lunch, dinner can be customized to meet your needs. Full service event management is also available.
CULINARY PHILOSOPHY
Traditionally Inspired Contemporary Cuisine - it is Christopher's desire to preserve the rich, cultural integrity of Newfoundland and Labrador cuisine and inject new ideas and approaches from the four corners of North America. Fresh, local ingredients are used to evolve classic continental dishes and local fare is presented with an urban twist. Everything at Christopher's is made from scratch.
The presentation on each plate demonstrates an impeccable attention to detail with towering dishes and colorful displays. Daily dessert specials made from scratch will allow many patrons to indulge and "complete" their meal. Christopher's also offers a diverse wine list to compliment your taste buds with offerings from Chile, Australia, France, Italy, Canada, and the United States.
Your experience would not be complete without the knowledgeable friendly staff and impeccable level of service. The servers have a thorough understanding of the ingredients and process to prepare each dish and would gladly make recommendations. Patrons will feel extremely relaxed, impressed and comfortable with the Christopher's experience.
ON SITE PRIVATE FUNCTIONS
The Crimson Room provides a chic and comfortable atmosphere ideal for professional presentations, business meetings or a special evening among family and friends. The Crimson Room can accommodate up to 20 guests.
The Amber Room, overlooking Duckworth Street and the emergent "St. John's Restaurant Row," showcases a fireplace and refined redwood floors. Preferred by patrons for an intimate, yet "happening" experience, the Amber Room can accommodate up to 18 patrons. Either Room can transform its layout and appearance to meet your desired needs.
The superb staff will handle all of the details and requests for your special occasion allowing you to enjoy your experience. You may select your luncheon or dinner choices from our menus or our Head Chef would be inspired to create a menu with you.
